Landscape Foreman
This position offers much in the way of challenges and rewards. And Blake Nursery, in business since 1977, is great place to work, with friendly clients and hard-working, fun-loving employees. With excellent pay offered, depending on your experience, we are looking for an individual who will take on considerable responsibility and represent Blake Nursery in a positive manner. Below see a list of primary responsibilities associated with this position:
- Install landscape plans and maintain existing sites--both residential and commercial--in a professional and timely manner (Although you will not install irrigation except for drip, a working knowledge of irrigation systems, including control panels, is helpful.)
- Effectively manage landscape employees
- Operate and oversee maintenance and repairs of all vehicles and equipment
- Customer relations and occasional customer consultations
- Collaborate with landscape manager and landscape designer
Work week is typically 4x10 hour days. Affordable housing is available in Big Timber, the county seat for Sweet Grass County in south-central Montana and just two hours from Yellowstone National Park. Big Timber is a small-town with a friendly atmosphere, and the area offers excellent recreational opportunities with nearby mountains and rivers.

Landscape Worker
Employees will be given the opportunity to learn about landscaping and the nursery trade from the ground up. Working for and learning from enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff, you will also gain expertise in teamwork, organization, and safety. As a landscape worker for Blake Nursery, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Load and deliver plants and materials to job site
• Prepare site (amend soil, grade, etc.)
• Install hardscapes (patios, walks, retaining walls, edging, etc.)
• Plant trees, shrubs, and perennials
• Mulch, sod, and seed
Other responsibilities will include general nursery work. These tasks are varied, but include unloading semis, standing up large trees and setting up irrigation, and vehicle and machinery maintenance.
Experience with machinery (particularly skidsteers) and driving trucks with trailers is beneficial, though we are willing to teach these skills as needed. As always, safety is a priority.
During the season, we generally work 4 ten hour days (Monday-Thursday), though this may vary depending on weather and work schedule. Regarding days off, we are flexible given adequate notice. Pay DOE.

Nursery Assistant
Qualifications: Enthusiastic about plants, enjoy outside work, excellent people skills, good work ethic, ability to perform physical tasks easily, including heavy lifting.
Duties: Care of plants, including potting, pruning, watering, weeding, dividing, and occasional pesticide application. Unloading plant deliveries and organizing plants in main nursery and overflow area. Assist customers with finding plants to suit their needs, checking out and loading of plants. Assist manager with setting aside plants for landscape jobs, and landscape crew with loading of plants for landscape jobs.
